Optical coherence tomography, also known as OCT, is a medical diagnostic imaging technique that utilizes photonics and fiber optics to obtain images and characterize ocular tissue. In this new tomography, the optic nerve and retinal structures are imaged at a very high level of resolution. The anatomical layers of the retina can be differentiated and the thickness of the retina can be measured.
